White Noise 2014
White Noise is the first set of a three part series exploring art and creativity in floral forms. This first part focuses on music and flowers.
Music and its influence can move us in so many emotional ways- I wanted to explore how sound and rhythm can influence shape and form and make us see design from a different perspective.
I found inspiration in a song called “Weathervane” by the band “Coral Bones”. I listened to that song for months, dissecting it and noticed burst of sound and detailed layers within the rhythm. There was also a driving beat throughout the whole song interlaced with many random beats. I loved it!
I chose to work with white, which is actually the absence of color, because even without color there are many shades, hues, pigments, and levels of saturation. I created lines within my “walking sculptures” using repetition and vertical alignment. My circular shapes were very random but fluid. Although these sculptures were shown on models they were not dresses.
